Black History Month: Press play on these four rising stars.

Black History Month

We’re at the end of Black History Month – a time to celebrate, remember, and honor both the triumphs and struggles of all African-descended people throughout history. This year, we spotlighted some of the hottest DJs in the industry, but celebrating black history and culture shouldn’t be limited to one month. Keep the party going by moving and grooving to these four rising stars: DJ Holographic, Jimi Jules, Desiree, and AMÉMÉ.

DJ Holographic: Funk machine, tasty dish, space goddess

DJ Holographic is a connoisseur of fine flavors. She enjoys serving her crowds a musical recipe that combines house, R&B, unreserved disco, true Detroit techno, and Motown. Did I hear someone say “Seconds please?” Your wish is our command — be sure to tune into her set, The Detroit I Love @Spotlight for two hours of uninterrupted funk therapy. It’s just what the doctor ordered.

Jimi Jules: Contagious aura, eurythmic master, smiley dude

Where does one begin? He has already set our cities on fire, and the flames are only growing higher. One does not simply listen to Jimi Jules. Rather, they press play, lose themselves, reconnect with music, and come out a changed person. Jimi Jules is pushing the boundaries of sound, visuals, and so much more… If you’re not already up-to-date with all his sets, be sure to check out his episode of Groove Podcast.

Desiree: Afrocentric moodster, dance floor groover, intersex icon

Are you tired of that same old? Then you’ve found your go-to girl for fresh new digs. Desiree is a role model for so many, aside from being a South African icon, she’s an active advocate for the intersex community. Her vibe is hypnotic, her beats are exotic, and her recent rise to the top is truly iconic. This groovy queen is setting the bar high — slide into her Groove Magazin set to hear for yourself.

AMÉMÉ: Positive thinker, soul nourisher, roots rocker

His uplifting energy is unparalleled — behind the decks he spins a perfect mix of African grooves, tribal rhythms, and hard-hitting vocals. His sets transport listeners into a world all their own. AMÉMÉ is a humble, forward-thinker on a mission to build a community and remind us all that we are connected, as One Tribe. Soak in his vibe, by tuning into his Robot Heart set from Burning Man.
